This was the third office project Synergy Interior Design Inc. has completed for this ever-expanding company. Superior Asphalt & Paving, the city's premium paving and snow removal company, was looking for its third expansion space and the owners purchased an existing building that required renovations and an addition to accommodate their growing business and staff.
Superior decided the new facility would set new standards for all office staff workstations and offices. Two larger offices can be divided into three smaller offices for future growth. New furniture throughout the office was specified taking into consideration the staff's ergonomic needs with adjustable seating and articulating arms for the desks as needed, as well as the task lighting.
Accessibility was a priority, which set the tone for the office with its automated entry doors and accessible-height reception counter and bathroom. The reception desk was custom-made with quartz for durability and strikes a professional and corporate tone in the level of finishes and details. The signage above the reception desk was made from custom glass in Superior’s corporate red and white colours.
With the office area being attached to the shop and the business of paving requires staff wearing workboots, the flooring needed to accommodate heavy use and be easily cleaned. We specified a vinyl floor tile, again incorporating the client's corporate colours (in different shades of grey this time) for ease of cleaning and appearance retention.
The clients wanted the interior of the space to be filled with natural light which we accomplished with the use of large full height sidelights and doors. The feature helps staff feel more connected to the environment and makes for a healthier interior. A curtain wall was used at the entry and reception area to add move natural light and connection to the front parking lot.
The conference room seats 14 people doubles as an open area for functions with two four foot sliding glass doors. The room is equipped with communications in the boardroom table and a large monitor for presentations. The corporate colour of red was used for the boardroom table. The staff coffee counter is adjacent to the boardroom, helping the two spaces work together for lunch and coffee breaks.
After the move-in, the client and I completed the project with a selection of artwork which includes five large pieces by renowned photographer David McMillian from his Chernobyl collection along with many other artists.
This project showcases how Synergy Interior Design specializes in office and commercial interior design.
