The Church of Christ was relocating to St. Vital from the Osborne Village area. Their new location afforded them a much more spacious building on St. Mary’s Road with beautiful stained glass windows and a steeple.
The members of the congregation wanted to provide a mortgage-free building for the next generation of members. However, the space needed some renovations to meet the Church of Christ’s current and future needs.
A committee was formed to work with Synergy Interior Design on the interior of the building which included the sanctuary, offices, bathrooms, entry area, common lobby and lounge spaces.
The sanctuary of the church is traditional with stained glass windows on either side of the space which offers a spiritual setting for services. We emphasized the original aspects of the interior design and played up the focal points with natural-looking materials and colours, including wood paneling at the front of the church. The dark burgundy seating helped anchor the space with richness and became a counterpoint to the stained glass windows.
The common areas throughout the church required new flooring and finishes to work with existing wood and brick materials and withstand the use of a robust and family-oriented membership, as well as to accommodate heavy foot traffic from the public when the church hosts events for the community.
This project offered us the opportunity to work with a vibrant church group, helping them refresh their newly purchased building and prepare it for future generations of members.
